Samsung i900 (Omnia)
Samsung’s new wonder PDA, the SGH-i900, is drawing ever nearer. A hands on with the device was had, and according to the source they are liking what they see. They had a direct comparison between the iPhone and the device, and it is very surprising how similar the two devices look. It makes sense for the i900 to be that way, as it will go head to head with the iPhone in some countries.
There is one detail about the device that is very interesting. It does not have a slot on the device for the stylus. There is a space on the case for it, but not on the device itself. Samsung has said that it will be very finger friendly, so does this mean this could be the first capacitive touch screen Windows Mobile device? The mere presence of a stylus would suggest no, because a capacitive touch device can not be used with a stylus.
On the other hand though, there is not much stopping Samsung from doing it, and there are specialized styli that can be used on a capacitive touch screen. Samsung could be putting one of those in. It is not possible to tell though, since there is no picture of the tip of the stylus, which is there the special resin would be to allow capacitance, and there for use on a capacitive touch screen.
The device is one of the finest to come out of Samsung. It has tons of features, and they include 7.2mbps HSDPA, GPS, a 624MHz CPU, 128MB RAM, 256 ROM, and an incredible 16GB of built in storage. It also allows even more memory to be packed in thanks to MicroSD. The device has a five mega pixel shooter with auto focus, and is light weight, with a thin form factor.
